The Marmalade Group is a collection of private limited companies established and located
in the Republic of Singapore. Still a relatively young enterprise, its food and beverage
(and lifestyle related) successes have nonetheless been lauded in local and international
press alike.

The dynamic group was started in early 1999 by four friends, three of whom continue to
sit as the group’s Executive Board – Shareen Khattar, Managing Director and Nicholas Chan
and Patricia Yuen as the remaining two Executive Directors. Hailing proudly from Singapore,
the four friends have provided a significant and exciting contribution to the wine and dine
scene, emphasizing the island state’s well earned reputation for being a truly international
culinary destination.

The Marmalade Group’s policy has to date been to wholly own and manage its restaurant,
café and catering businesses. It has, in certain circumstances, formed strategic alliances
with key partners for selected operations, but retaining full operational control. This has
enabled the group to maintain absolutely the direction of its brand and the consistently high
standards that The Marmalade Group is known for.

The core business of The Marmalade Group is its restaurant business. marmalade
(the group’s founding flagship opened in 1999), pierside kitchen&bar (opened in 2000),
The Marmalade Pantry (opened in 2002) and Toast (Takashimaya location opened in 2003
and OUB location opened in 2004). In addition, marmalade at home started offering its
catering services from 2001.

As part of an expansion onto the retail and lifestyle platform, The Marmalade Group entered
into an exclusive distribution relationship with Harvey Nichols in 2002. The latter’s well known
and uniquely grey and white packaged food products are sold off the hip and sophisticated
shelves at The Marmalade Pantry. Additional strategic relationships are being formed with
select food and wine producers as this business arm of the group continues to expand.

The focus of the group’s food and beverage expansion plan is concentrated on Toast,
the stylish chain concept café currently. Focusing on quality produce, fresh gourmet
sandwiches and homemade cakes and pastries, the Toast concept brings to the busy
executive or harried shopper the ideal power breakfast, quick lunch or languorous tea
spot. Designed with reproduction in mind, the cookie cutter (no pun intended), pink tiled
café is poised to recreate itself across the region. The intention of the Executive Board
is to increase the local presence of Toast by multiple outlets across the island. In this
respect, the group has already commenced scouting locations in the heart of the city
and in certain key residential suburbs.

The Marmalade Group is always keen to explore new business opportunities, both locally
and abroad. Plans are currently on the table for franchise development, food and beverage
consulting services, retail opportunities and further hospitality related ventures. If you would
